Backup and disaster recovery in Dallas-Fort Worth

Monday, 7 a.m. The server died Saturday. Everyone logs in anyway.

Most IT companies learn the backup never worked on the morning they need it. We test ours on a schedule.

And we write down what recovery looks like, before the morning you need it.

A man works at his office computer while, at home, Jack watches a laptop show a backup restored into a file with a green check mark. Your office Jack, your BDunn tech Restored Friday’s backup, then opened it
We restore your files and make sure they’re good.

  • Restores tested on a schedule.

A test restore, not a green check.

  • A copy ransomware cannot reach.

Kept where the systems it protects can’t touch it.

  • Failed backups reach a person.

One who will act on it.

How we know it restores.

  1. Every day

    Every backup is checked.

Did it run, and did it finish?

  2. On a schedule

    We restore it.

A job can still report success and quietly skip something. So we restore real files, or boot a copy of the server.

  3. Kept

    You can see the results.

The results are kept, and shown to you.

Decided before the morning you need it.

  1. Which system comes up first.

The server, the phones, the app the office runs on. Settled on a quiet day, not argued at 7 a.m.

  2. What you would lose, and for how long.

How far back the last good copy goes, and how long until people are working again. Written down.

  3. Who calls the staff.

And who calls us. The plan stays current, and you get a copy.

What we back up, and how we know it works

  • Servers and the files on them.

Copied on a schedule, and every backup is checked daily for success.

  • Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.

Microsoft and Google keep the service running. Neither keeps a copy of your data outside its own service. We do, in storage we control.

  • A copy ransomware cannot reach.

Offline, or behind separate credentials your production network does not have. A failed job goes to a person who acts on it, not to somebody who left.

Ransomware looks for the backups first.

If a domain-joined server can reach the backup, so can whatever is running on that server. Then there is nothing to come back from.

And the failure is almost never the backup software. It is that nobody checked.

We have walked into exactly this: a job failing for months, the alert going to somebody who left.

Switching from another IT company? How we take over

We boot the backup before you need it.
