Servers and virtualization in Dallas-Fort Worth

Every office has one server nobody wants to touch. Most IT companies’ plan? Don’t touch it.

Windows Server · Hyper-V · Proxmox

Replacing it is mostly a knowledge problem. So we write down what it does first.

We replace the old server, or move it onto a virtual one that backs up as one piece. Rehearsed on a copy, cut over after hours. Your staff walk in to a working morning.

Windows Server 2016 security updates stop January 12, 2027.

If one of yours runs it, now is the time to plan the move. What that means

What we look after

  • The aging server.

Out of warranty, running something the business depends on, set up by someone long gone. We document what it actually does, including the parts nobody remembers.

  • Off the dying hardware.

Into a virtual machine (Hyper-V or Proxmox) that backs up as one piece and restores to other hardware. Tested before anyone commits.

  • The server everyone signs in through.

The domain controller. Logins, shares and printers come across the way they were.

  • Server replacement.

When the hardware really is done. Sized for what you run, not for the biggest thing the vendor sells.

  • Windows Server 2016.

Security updates stop in January 2027. What that means, and how to plan the move.

Switching IT companies before the hardware decides for you? How we take over

Sometimes the right answer is no server.

Plenty of small businesses still run a server out of habit, for file shares and printing that could live in cloud storage for less money and less risk.

We will tell you when that is the better path, even though it is the smaller project for us.

Nobody pays us to recommend hardware, so we have no reason to sell you any.

Monday should look like Friday.

  1. Dress rehearsal.

We run the move on a copy and prove the result works. Only then do we book the real one.

  2. Cut over after hours.

Nights and weekends, inside a planned window, with a tested way back if anything goes sideways.

  3. Walk in to a working morning.

Same shares, same logins, same printers.

The server move gets a rehearsal.
