Veterinary practice IT in Dallas-Fort Worth

Inspection day. The drug log has to match the cabinet. Most IT companies? ‘Not an IT problem.’

Cornerstone · Avimark · ezyVet · IDEXX · Covetrus

Practice software, dispensing cabinet, lab and imaging all have to agree. When one drops an entry, we find which one.

When the drug-log vendor blames the cabinet, we trace it to the end.

A veterinarian checks a dispensing cabinet drawer while an inspector nods and a tech holds a calm dog; Jack, at his back porch table, traces the drug-log entry on a tablet. Your practice Jack, your BDunn tech Tracing one entry back to the cabinet
We trace it to the end. You see patients.

  • Every system has to agree.

Practice software, dispensing cabinet, lab and imaging.

  • The drug-log vendor and the cabinet.

We trace it when they blame each other.

  • Hosted software, local box.

The lab, imaging and dispensing still run through something in the building.

One vial, four records.

The cabinet, the practice software, the drug log and a technician’s handwritten count. When one entry never reaches the others, the count drifts until somebody reconciles it. Or an inspection does.

Ask if yours would match

Texas veterinary records, on the IT side

The software can run fine and still let the wrong person read a client’s file. We check who gets in and what they can reach.

Three rules, one by one
  • Client confidentiality

Records generally leave only with the client’s written authorization, a court order or a subpoena (Occupations Code 801.353). So everyone gets their own login, not a shared front-desk one.

  • Controlled-drug logs

Controlled-drug records stay at least five years (22 Texas Administrative Code 573.50). We back up the log system and watch the cabinet interface and its network.

  • Records you can restore

Patient records, radiographs included, have to be kept at least three years after the last visit (22 Texas Administrative Code 573.52). We test the restore on what we can recover and make the vendor calls for the rest.

What we check first, from the drug log to the lab.

Hosted software, local box.

Your practice software may be hosted. The lab, imaging, payments and dispensing still run through something in the building: a hub, a workstation, a bridge. Without a tested fallback, the browser stays up while results stop.

Uploaded is not filed.

A result can land under the wrong patient, or nowhere, when the software, lab interface and imaging disagree on the patient, doctor or accession number. We tell you when the connection stops.

One company, many logos.

IDEXX owns ezyVet, Neo, Cornerstone and VetConnect PLUS. Covetrus owns Pulse, Avimark and Impromed. Ask who handles a problem between them. Then let us make that call.

What clients say

We have had a great experience working with BDunn & Company for the past several years. They are readily available when we have needs that arise, they are very responsive, and communicate in a timely manner, especially when we are having a problem.

Switching IT companies without rebuilding records by hand? How we take over

AI at a veterinary practice

2026About 600 routine calls a month, answered without a receptionist

About 40 staff hours a month back, urgent calls answered faster.

How it worked

This vet clinic’s phones rang all day with the same questions. Is the prescription ready, what are your hours, is there room in boarding, can you send the vaccine records. Meanwhile an urgent call could be stuck in the same line. We connected an AI phone assistant to the clinic’s scheduling and its approved practice information. Routine questions get answered right away. It never tries to diagnose an animal. Anything that sounds like an emergency goes straight to trained staff or an approved emergency service. About 600 routine calls a month are now handled start to finish, about 40 staff hours back, and urgent callers get through faster.

How we build it

We check the connections behind the practice software.

Which connection leaves your staff rebuilding records by hand?
